Agnes McGee, 89, of Cresco, Iowa passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at Accura Healthcare of Cresco.
A visitation for Agnes will be held at the Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home in Cresco, IA on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 from 3:30-7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Notre Dame Catholic Church on Thursday, December 19, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Jacob Rouse officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Notre Dame Catholic Church one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Agnes Lillian McGee, daughter of John and Lillian (Pecinovsky) Stepan, was born December 28, 1929, in Howard County, Iowa. Agnes attended the country school at Jackson Junction #1 until the 8th grade. On September 21, 1948, Agnes married Glenn Hyke at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, Iowa. They were married until his passing on July 4th, 1965. Agnes later married Gerald McGee on August 26, 1966 in Gilbertville, Iowa until his passing on August 30, 1991.
Agnes was an active member of the Rosary Society. She enjoyed playing cards, playing BINGO, being a part of the card club, as well as babysitting. Agnes truly loved Polka music, going out Polka dancing, and was a regular listener to the Saturday Morning Polka Show. Agnes also had a seat on the catholic school board in the early 1980s. She enjoyed life on the family farm and being a housewife and mother to eleven children.
Agnes is survived by her children, Marcella (Barry) Linde of Ankeny, IA, Francis (Audrey) Hyke of Cresco, IA, Lester (Debra) Hyke of Urbana, IA, Margaret Wright of Aurora, CO, Dennis (Suzanne) Hyke of Preston, MN, Kenneth (Susan) Hyke of Nevada, IA, Gordon (Carrie) Hyke of Urbandale, IA, Karen Hyke of Cresco, IA, Richard (Teresa) McGee of Cresco, IA, Steve (Vivian) McGee of Des Moines, IA, and Maureen (Randy) Reinhart of Cresco, IA, brothers T.J. Stepan of Nashua, IA, Edward Stepan of West Union, IA, WW Stepan of St. Louis, MO, sister Lillian Karnik of Spillville, IA, 19 grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband Glenn, her second husband Gerald, grandchildren Tina Hyke, Angela Hyke, Megan Hyke, Randy Wright, and great-granddaughter Ashley Lucas.
