Nelson Lathrop died Wednesday afternoon at the home of his son, Lloyd Lathrop, of Howard Center township, at the advanced age of 91 years. The funeral takes place at 1:30 this afternoon at the home, with interment in the Howard Center cemetery.

OBITUARY.
Nelson Lathrop was born in Maine on May 20, 1819, and while he was yet a small boy he moved with his parents to Oleria, Ohio, and in the year 1843 he was married at Oleria. From there he moved to Elgin, Ill., where he lived a few years, moving from there to Mineral Point, Wis., where he engaged in the grocery and gunsmith business. In 1840 he crossed the plains to the California gold-fields. In 1853 his wife died at Mineral Point. To this union two children were born, George R. of Chicago and James S. of Howard Center, and on Nov. 4, 1854, he was married again to Jane C. Williams of Mineral Point, Wis., and in May 1869, he came to Howard Center and bought a farm and in June he moved his family here and has always lived on the farm until the Angel of Death called him home on Nov. 23, 1910, at 1:30 p. m. Five children are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving father: George R. of Chicago, Jas. S. of Howard Center, William, of Seattle, Wash., and Lottie Dawes and Lloyd of Howard Center. Two daughters, Julia G. and Nellie E., preceded him in death. The funeral was held Friday afternoon at his home and he was laid to rest in the Howard Center Cemetery by the side of his wife who preceded him in death in Jan. 27, 1901.
Mr. Lathrop was a kind hearted, upright, honest man, a true Christian, a kind neighbor, and was greatly loved by all who knew him. His sons George and William were unable to attend the funeral.
