KOMAREK.
Mathias Komarek was born February 21, 1827, at Zbesitz, Bohemia, and after a short illness passed away Nov. 13, 1910 at his home in Cresco, Iowa.
In the year 1858 he was married to Elenora Moravetz and to them two children were born. Joseph the son, who died in infancy, and a daughter, Mrs. Theresia Schneider, residing near Howard Center. In 1874 Mr. and Mrs. Komarek emigrated to America.
During the war of 1848 in Ungarn, Mr. Komarek answere{d} his country’s call and served eight years till the end of the war. He was presented with a gold medal from the Emperor of Austria in memory of the battles he went through.
The funeral was held at the Holy Trinity church at Protivin, Rev. Lakomy officiating, and was largely attended by relatives and friends who desired to pay their last tribute of love and respect to the memory of the deceased.Transcriber's Note: His first name on his gravestone shows Matej.
