OBITUARY
IRVINE.
Ernest Preston Irvine was horn near Lime Springs, Iowa, November 20th, 1879; where he lived with his parents until he was eighteen years of age. At this time he went to Decorah, Iowa, to attend the Valder business college where he spent two winters.
In the fall of 1901 he went to Grinnell, Iowa, where he attended Iowa college. During his three and a half years in college he did good, faithful work and won the confidence and love of his professors and fellow students; as the many letters and little acts of thought and kindness proved during his months of suffering.
At the close of the first semester, 1906, he left Grinnell and went into a commercial college in Des Moines, both as instructor and student. In a few months a good position was opened to him in the Valley City National bank of that city, which he thought best to leave college and accept. During his stay in Des Moines he was much interested in settlement work, being librarian and having charge of the gymnasium evenings after his day’s work, in Roadside House, a charitable institution. While he was here he united with the First Presbytarian{sp} church on Easter Sunday, 1907.
In May, 1907, he left his home in Des Moines to accept a position in the First National bank of Kensal, N. D., and in August, 1908, went to the First National hank of Everett, Wash. This position he resigned Nov. 1st, 1909, much to the regret of his employers, and went at once to Clifton, Arizona, to join his sister in a fight for his life.
Since that time he has been a great sufferer and grew steadily worse, and as the hot season advanced his sisters brought him north to his brother’s home in Cresco, where he passed away Tuesday morning. June 28th, 1910.
While he was anxious to live, as the inevitable approached he was very much resigned and his great thought was for his dear ones and to make them as little trouble as possible.
He leaves to mourn his death, Mrs. E. M. Stevens of Lime Springs, Iowa, Eugene Irvine and May H. Irvine of Cresco, Iowa, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services conducted by Rev. Peck, of Lime Springs, were hold at 10 o’clock, Thursday morning, at the Eugene Irvine home, and the remains were taken to Lime Springs for interment.
