Sarah Jane Ackerson was born in Wisconsin, Sept. 5, 1840, and died at her home in Cresco, Iowa, March 9, 1910. She was united in marriage to Thomas Cushin in 1864. Her husband died in 1895 and she moved to Iowa the same year where she has since resided.
Her death was a shock to the community as she was only sick a few hours, caused from heart trouble. She was buried Friday morning, March 11, 1910, at 10 o’clock, from the Saint Joseph Church of which she was a devoted member.
She leaves to mourn her loss, three sisters and one brother, David Ackerson of Minneapolis; Mrs. John Dolan of Fon du Lac, Wisconsin; and Mead. Peter and John Ferrie of Cresco, Iowa; a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
She was a thorough Christian woman, a loving sister, and a kind neighbor, and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
