“Larry” Kennedy Dead.
“Larry” Kennedy, Northwestern railway engineer and well known to many in this city and along the line of the Northwester road, died at 7 o’clock Monday morning at his home in Rockford. The illness which caused Mr. Kennedy’s death was peculiar. About six weeks ago he pared a corn and in so doing inflicted a cut on one of his feet. It was not considered much, but a day or two later the foot and leg began swelling and this was followed by blood poisoning. Other ailments followed and the condition of Mr. Kennedy became serious. Amputation of the leg was suggested but Mr. Kennedy did not look with favor on this and efforts were made to stop the progress of the blood poisoning. This could not be done and then it was too late to attempt the operation and he was advised he would meet death as a result of the blood poisoning.—Geneva (Ill.) Republican.Transcriber’s Note: Per Find a Grave, this was probably Lawrence Kennedy who was born in 1858 and died Dec. 6, 1909. He is buried in Rockford, Illinois.
