OBITUARY.
The body of Fred S. White was brought here from Cresco Monday for burial and a short funeral service was held in the Presbyterian Church, conducted by Dean Budlong of the Episcopal Church of Austin.
Mr. White’s death occurred at Cresco Friday evening April 9th, following a long illness with disease of the brain. Deceased was born in Canton, N. Y., July 12, 1866. He came to Cresco sixteen years ago, his father being the Milwaukee agent at that station since that time. He himself took up railroad work and was for eight years and a half Milwaukee agent at Taopi. During his residence there he was married to Maud Kough, a daughter of Thos. Kough, Sept. 9th, 1903. They have no children, his wife, his father and a sister being the near relatives who are left to mourn his death. About a year ago he was obliged to resign his positon at Taopi on account of his failing health and since then he has sought relief in numerous places, but all to no avail.
Deceased was a popular man among all who knew him and his untimely death is regretted by a large circle of friends. Many of his associates in railroad work attended the funeral and the O. R. T. sent a beautiful floral pillow as a token of their esteem for him. Among those present at the funeral were: Supt. E. Clemons and roadmaster M. McShane of the Milwaukee; W. E. Wilson, agent at Adams; E. L. Barlow, agent at Chester, and wife, Harley Rough, an engineer whose home is in Austin; Allen Whitcraft, Great Western agent at Taopi; Representative Herman Kull and wife, C. A. -Marshall, Mrs. John McCook, of Cresco; Mesdames O. H. Daily, M. H. Miller and L. E. Bourquin and Miss Josephine Bourquin of Taopi.—LeRoy Independent.
