DIED--At his residence in Vernon Springs, Howard County, Iowa, Oct. 29, 1863, William Shapley, aged 63 years.

The deceased was a native of the State of New York, from which he removed to Iowa, and was among the first settlers of this county. On the morning of his death he was in usual health, going to his son's, nearly a quarter of a mile distant, and upon returning complained of being unwell, and in ten minutes was a corpse. He was a good neighbor, had a generous and noble heart, and was a worthy and sincere friend.
