Geo.{sic} S. Gill pased{sic} away on Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lovejoy, in Orleans township. The funeral takes place this morning, Rev. Hinman officiating.

Transcriber’s Note: Find-a-Grave shows his first name was Giles and that he is buried in Oak Lawn Cemetery.

OBITUARY.
GILL
Mr. G. S. Gill, was born at Windsor, Vt., Jan. 11, 1821. At the age of 11, he moved with his parents to St. Lawrence county, New York, where his father was engaged in farming.
On the 27th of December he married Helen M. Bradley, who passed away after a happy married life of over sixty years, about a year and a half ago. Eight children were born to this union, all of whom survive him: Sarah M., Charles F., Luthera, George L., Helen M., Robert D., John L. and Anna J. In January, 1881, Mr. Gill moved his family to Cresco and for several years engaged in farming just west of Cresco. He retired from this work about eight years ago and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Anna Lovejoy, May 13, 1908.
Mr. Gill was an earnest worker and a man of great patience and resolution. Lowell's description of General Grant applies very closely to his character. He was, “One of those still plain men that doeth the world’s rough work.”
The funeral was conducted by Rev. H. J. Hinman, at the home of Henry Lovejoy, at 1 o’clock, Friday afternoon, May 15.
