Austin Sherman Drake, younger son of Ebeneazer E. Drake, and Minerva Jane Martin, was born at East Troy, Walworth county, Wis., on the 28th of January, 1843.
He accompanied his family in 1854 to Eau Claire, Wis., where, October 14th, 1869, he married Miss Ada Victoria de Laski.
Two sons, Louis V. and Arthur V., and the sister, Mrs. Irene G. Adams, are living.
The departed passed away at Lake Helen, Florida, April 23rd, 1908. Rev. Mr. Gammons conducted the Episcopal funeral service, Monday morning, at the A. E. Barker home, and burial was beside the mother, in Oak Lawn ceme¬tery, Cresco, Iowa. The bodies of the wife and two sons repose in the Eau Claire cemetery. During the last ten or fifteen years Mr. Drake had lived much of the time in Florida.
His life and conduct was that of the real Christian—“Love Thy Neighbor.”
