John Beucher was born in Celtingen, Prussia, Feb. 29, 1832. He moved to America with his mother, one sister and five brothers, in 1854. They settled in Galena, Ill., where they lived about a year, from whence he moved to Cherry Mound. After a residence there of some years he moved to Jefferson Twp. Allamakee County. On July 4, 1860, he was united in marriage to Anna M. Werhan. They settled in Ludlow Twp. where they lived about eight years, from whence they moved to a farm near Ridgeway which was the family home until they moved to Cresco about 18 years ago. Seven daughters and four sons were born to them of whom four daughters and two sons survive: Mesd. W. H. Loughery, E. A. Kuntz, Wm. Reinhart, and John, of Cresco, and Mrs. Wesley Kuntz, and Charles, of Cavour, S. D. He died March 6, 1908, after a lingering illness. Funeral services were conducted from the house on Sabbath afternoon. The sympathy of many friends go out to the bereaved wife and children.
