OBITUARY.
John Mathew Caspari was born in Bonn on the Rhine, Germany, Oct. 28, 1828, and died at his home in Cresco Thursday, Nov. 21. He came to America in 1852. Four years later he was married to Theresa Martini at Patosi, Wis. Five children were born to this union, four of whom are still living— Mrs. Dan Byrnes of Cresco, George of Savannah, Ill., John of Emporia, Kas., and William of Royalton, Minn.
His wife died at Lyons, Iowa, in November, 1872. In 1878 he was married at Fulton, Ill., to Rebecca Ferrie, who survives him.
About 22 years ago he came to Cresco and took charge of the McCoy roller mill and operated it continuously till two years ago, when on account of advanced age be retired.
For many generations back the Caspari family followed the miller’s trade and near Bonn there still stands the mill, now operated by a nephew of deceased, that has been in possession of the family for over 100 years.
The funeral was held Monday, Nov. 25, at the church of the Assumption and burial was in St. Joseph’s cemetery.

Transcriber’s Note: His gravestone in Calvary Cresco Cemetery shows year of death as 1908; however, this newspaper is dated 1907.
