The people of Cresco were inexpressibly shocked on Tuesday by the report that Mrs. Dr. Connolly was supposed to be dying in a Chicago hospital. Many of our people did not know that she was even absent from the city and only a few of the intimate friends of the family knew of her serious condition or that she was in Chicago at one of the hospitals receiving treatment from Chicago’s eminent physician, Dr. Murphy. Mrs. Connolly has been gradually failing for some months and her health not being benefited by remedies usually given in similar appearing cases, her husband suspicioned the true cause of her illness and took her to Chicago for consultation, when Dr. Murphy pronounced her the victim of pernicious anaemia and in a critical condition. No improvement could be made in her condition and she gradually grew weaker until her death early Wednesday morning.
The remains arrived in Cresco yesterday morning, accompanied by her husband and children, all of whom were in Chicago at the time of her death.
The funeral takes place this morning at the Church of the Assumption at 9 o’clock.Transcriber’s Note: Calvary Cresco Cemetery indicates this was Katherine who was born May 31, 1861 and died Oct.9 1907. She was married to Dr. William Connolly.
