MUMBY:
Mrs. Charles Mumby died at the hospital in Sioux Falls, S. D., where she had been a patient sufferer for some time, on Saturday, Nov. 3, 1906, at 1 o’clock, aged 50 years, 4 months and 3 days, as the result of an illness which has extended over a period of about two years. Mrs. Mumby has been a long, patient sufferer, and her struggle for better health was worthy of a happier termination for her family and friends, albeit she has found relief from uninterrupted affliction.
The cause of death was an internal cancerous growth, which was partially removed in the operation of a few days ago. The operation revealed the hopelessness of the case, however, and there no further anticipation of her recovery.
Deceased was born in Malone, N. Y., June 30, 1856. She came to Sioux Falls with her family in 1881, and with other pioneer women contributed all that she could in the doing of good and living a pure, Christian life to build up the moral tone and better institutions of Sioux Falls.
She was a member of the Episcopal church and until illness compelled her to give up active work for the advancement of the interests of that and all other Christian institutions in Sioux Falls, was devoted to church and home.
Mrs. Mumby is survived by a husband and two children upon whom her death falls with particular force. She had made the home over which she presided one of the most blessed in Sioux Falls. To her loved ones, the sympathy of the community is extended.
The funeral will occur from Calvary Cathedral at 3 o’clock this afternoon. —Sioux Falls (S. D.) Daily Press, Nov.
4, 1906.
Mrs. Mumby will be remembered as a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Jackson of this city, where she had a large number of friends and acquaintances who will sincerely{sic} mourn her untimely death and who will deeply simpathize{sic} with the bereaved husband and children in their sad affliction.
