After the close of the war, Mr. Swenson returned to his home in Wisconsin much broken down in health and remained a sufferer the balance of his life, as we all know.
In the year of 1866, Mr. Swenson engaged in the jewelry business in Waterford, Wis., and the following year, 1867, he came to Cresco where he established his jewelry business, reputation and home. That same year, he was united in marriage to Almeda Sloan to which union were born 10 children; Etta, Wesley, William, Ole, Mae, Mable, Winnie, Freddie, Georgie and Emma, all of whom with the mother survive him; also a sister, Mrs. Mary Caward, and brother, Lorens Swenson,
Mr. Swenson was a true Christian man, a firm believer in his God and the Norwegian Lutheran Church of which he at an early age became a member. He lived a Christian life, and restfully and peacefully passed beyond with the true Christian faith and love.
