Maud Kline Dead.
The people of Cresco were inexpressibly shocked Tuesday night to learn of the arrival of Mrs. M. A. Kline, from Walla Walls, Wash., with the remains of her daughter Maud. A telegram from Mrs. Kline announcing the death never reached Cresco, although a telegram sent later announcing when she would arrive, was delivered and the children of the family were at the train expecting to meet the mother and the sister that they supposed was well enough to return home.
Rev. Mc Vettie, os{sic} Decorah, who was at the depot to return home, staid{sic} in Cresco instead and assisted in removing the remains to the Meverden undertaking rooms, and in telephone to Mr. Mr. Kline, who was at work at Decorah.
Maud C. Kline, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Kline, was born in Cresco Oct. 3, 1881, and died as the result of typhoid fever, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Walla Walla, Wash., on Saturday, Oct. 28th, aged 24 years and 25 days. All her life was spent in Cresco with the exception of the past fifteen months which were spent in the Twin Cities and the west. She was a graduate of the Cresco High
School, a member of the class of 1900. She was a communicant of the Episcopal church, having been confirmed on her thirteenth birthday, and was ever a zealous worker in the church and a faithful member of the choir. Miss Kline will be sincerely mourned by a large circle of friends and by the relatives to whom she was the most endeared. Words are not sufficient to express the sympathy which all feel toward the sadly stricken family.
The funeral was held yesterday afternoon from the Episcopal church, Rev McVettie officiating, with interment in Oak Lawn cemetery.

Transcriber's note: Her gravestone shows year of birth of 1882.
