BLY.
At the home of his son, George Bly, in this city, yesterday afternoon, Chas. S. Bly closed his eyes to earthly scenes forever. He was born in New York, Feb. 27, 1826; was married in 1852 to Miss Julia Pepin, who died in 1871.
They spent some years in Illinois, coming to Iowa in 1856 and making their home in New Oregon.
Twelve children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Bly, six sons and six daughters; nine of whom have passed from earth, two lying in Illinois, and seven in the New Oregon cemetery beside their mother; and, three survive both their parents; George Bly, of Cresco; Mrs. Frank Schaffer, of Lime Springs; and Mrs. Wm. Lucas, of Chester.
The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at two o’clock, at the M. E. Church. Interment in New Oregon Cemetery.
Mr. Bly has been a familiar figure in Howard county, for many years. Honest, upright and just in his dealings. His ready greeting will be missed by many friends here, while he sleeps beside the wife of his youth and seven of his children, in the beautiful cemetery in New Oregon.
On the death of Mr. Bly, the PLAIN DEALER mourns the death of A personal friend and one of its oldest patrons, having been a continuous subscriber to the PLAIN DEALER since its beginning.
