Ling dying May 7, 1897. They leave behind them their sons: M. R. Ling, of Fargo, N. D., L E. A. Ling, of Cresco, and C. W. Ling, of Billings, Montana.
The funeral occurred Sunday afternoon from the residence of his son, L E. A. Ling, Rev. Gammons, officiating, with interment in Oak Lawn Cemetery.

His work is done; and while we mourn
The mortal form just gone from view
He still is here—His spirit lives;
And will be with us, year by year.
