Another Old Settler Gone.
One by one the old land-marks are being reproved by the fell despoiler, death. Mr. Patrick Riley passed on to the Great Beyond at his home in Alton at the advanced age of 83 years. Deceased was born in Ireland in 1818, came to the United States in 1846 and located on the farm where he died in 1857. He was a man above the average in intelligence, a great reader, and a sound thinker. He was possessed of good social qualities with a generous disposition and was the very soul of honor and integrity. The PLAIN DEALER has been a visitor at his home from its first issue in 1859, and its editor always found a cordial welcome at his bountiful board. An aged widow remaps for yet a brief period and will be taken care of by a dutiful son without doubt.
