Obituary.
William G. Woodward, was born in New Oregon township in September 1879, and died after a three week’s illness from pneumonia, at the home of his father near Dell Rapids, S. D., Sunday, April 14, 1901. His mother died while he was in infancy, but in the love and care of his step-mother, he never realized his loss. All his life had been spent in Howard county until the removal of his parents to South Dakota, about two years ago. Besides his parents he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Maude Wilhelm of Lime Springs, and Miss Ethel Woodward of Dell Rapids, and a large circle of other relatives to mourn his untimely death.
Although never uniting with any religious organization the deceased died a christian, leaving to his sorrowing relatives and friends, the sweet memory of a true, honest, helpful and manly life. The funeral took place Wednesday afternoon from the Baptist church, Rev. Silke officiating and giving an address full of hope aud comfort to the sorrowing ones. A large number of sympathising friends tilled the church to pay their last tribute to the memory of the deceased, and the floral offerings were handsome and profuse. His earthly tenement was laid at rest beside that of his mother in New Oregon cemetery.
