TIMES April 8, 1875 P8 C3

A sad accident happened here (Chester) on Saturday last, in the forenoon, in which one of our best citizens lost his life. While Wm. Hall, B. Combs, and A. C. Blair were crossing the mill pond with a scow load of gravel, to mend a break in the mill dam, the scow sank with all aboard. Mr. Combs made for the shore and came back and rescued Mr. Blair, who could not swim. Mr. Hall was rescued soon, but all efforts to resuscitate him were unavailing.

We learn from his friends that Mr. Hall was subject to cramp and heart disease, which is probably what killed him, the fatal paroxysm being induced by fright and the cold water. Dr. E. J. Kingsbury was present and rendered active aid.

In the death of Wm. Hall, the Church has lost one of its best members. The Grange (Chester) of which he was Worthy Chaplain, has lost a beloved brother. He leaves a wife and quite a large family.

He was buried yesterday by Chester Grange, assisted by delegates from ? (Minn.)Grange, Beaver (Minn.) Grange, and Lime Springs Grange. A large concourse of people followed him to his last resting place.
