RATZ.
Mary Ratz was born December 26, 1885, and in early infancy baptized and brought to Christ. She attended the public school from her 6th to 15th year of age. In the winter of 1901 she was instructed in the German Parochial school in Christian truth and Christian life and was confirmed March 24, 1901. It was a heartbreaking affliction to her that her father died shortly before that great day of her life, February 26, 1901. This death of her father and also the death of her grand parents in 1902, and 1904, directed her thoughts to our eternal home in heaven. So when a dreadful sickness had developed in her that could not be cured by the skill of the doctors, she clung to her Saviour and united with him in the holy communion and prayed for a blessed end. She died Tuesday, November 1, 1904, and was laid to rest in New Oregon cemetery, Friday November 4, 1904, Rev. C. Niedermeier, her pastor, conducting the funeral service. She was a true Christian maiden, a true daughter to her mother, a beloved sister, esteemed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace till the great day of resurection.
