Brought to Cresco For Burial
Mrs. Mary Stone-Skahen, died at her home in Minneapolis, Minn., last Sunday, Dec. 27th. The remains were brought to Cresco last evening and will be laid at rest to-day in Oaklawn beside the grave of her father, the late Sylvester Stone.
Mrs. Skahen was the youngest daughter of Sylvester and Johanna Stone; was born in Howard county, and was a member of the first class that graduated from the Cresco High school, and a young lady loved by all who knew her.
A year ago last fall Mrs. Skahen went to California, hoping the change might prove beneficial to her failing health. But this was not to be, and she returned to her home in Minneapolis where she continued to fail until death ended her suffering.
Mrs. Skaken leaves a husband, son, mother, and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Brown and Mrs. Eva Loomis, beside a large number of relatives and friends to mourn her untimely death.
Mr. Skahan, and his brother, and his son Vance, and Mrs. Emma Brown accompanied the remains to Cresco.Transcriber’s Note: The last name is spelled two different ways; however, Oak Lawn records show Skahen and that she was born in 1861.
