Wednesday evening a five year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Brockman living on the Thos. McKernan farm 8 miles southwest of Elma was burned to death in a straw shed. It seems Brockman had just finished threshing that day the shed had been covered with the freshly threshed straw. The entrance to the shed had become filled up and the children thinking some of their kittens were inside took a lantern and went out and tried to effect an entrance. And doing so some way the lantern started the fire which burned one of the little girls to death and seriously burned one of the others.—Elma New Era.
