Death of John Tipton.
The death of John Tipton occurred at Lime Springs August 3. The deceased was born at Cumberland Gap, Virginia, and came to Forest City township at the age of twenty where he has since lived.
He enlisted in a regiment of infantry from Wisconsin during the civil war and while in service met with an accident to one of his limbs which, has always bothered him. About two weeks ago he was taken with what was apparently an affliction of the heart but later proved to be gangrene of his injured leg. He died Monday night. The funeral occurred Wednesday the services being in charge of the G. A. R. He leaves a wife, two daughters and one sister.
The deceased was one of Howard county’s early settlers and one of her most respected citizens.—Chester Herald.Transcriber's Note: Pleasant Hill Cemetery records indicate he was born in 1844.
