Stephen Middlebrook, who has been ill at the home of his sister, Mrs. Rogers in Cresco, died Sunday morning. Mr. Middlebrook came to Cresco in the early part of the winter to visit with relatives and has been sick for several weeks. About two weeks ago his children were called to his bedside, it being thought his recovery was very doubtful, but in a few days he rallied and had seemed to be slowly improving until Thursday evening, when it was seen he was failing. We understand his body is to be taken to West Salem, Wis., for burial.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in Neshonoc Cemetery in West Salem, WI. It also shows he was born in 1822. His sister’s name is shown two different ways.
