Isaac B. Howland was born in the town of Meredith, Delaware county, N.Y., Dec. 26, 1827. United in marriage with Miss Nancy Siddall at Beloit, Wis., Aug. 19 1854. Moved to Iowa in the spring of 1863 and settled in Cresco. In December of the same year he enlisted in defense of the Union and the flag, leaving wife and two children deprived of his protection and care, a member of the 7th Regiment, Iowa Volunteer Infantry, company B. He fought in 13 engagements. Discharged July 1, 1865, he returned to his home after an absence of nearly two years. He settled on the home farm west of Lime Springs, and in 1893, moved to Lime Springs, where he has since resided.
He leaves two brothers, one sister, two sons and four daughters to mourn their loss. Died July 8, 1908, aged 80 years, 6 months and 12 days. He lives in the memories of his friends and loved ones.

Isaac B. Howland passed away Wednesday morning at his home in Lime Springs, after a long illness. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon.

Mr. I. B. Howland passed away early Wednesday morning after an illness of six weeks. The funeral was held on Thursday at 2 p. m. at the M. E. church, Rev. Burgess and Rev. Lang officiating.
