Obituary.
John M. Weakland, son of Thomas and Catharine Weakland, was born in Howard county, October 8, 1865, and died June 6, 1892, aged 36 years 7 months and 28 days. After a long sickness he closed his eyes in death, having first received the sweet consolation which his religion affords to the departing faithful, and after having said a fond farewell to his weeping parents and sorrowing brothers and sisters who surrounded his bedside.
The funeral services took place at the Catholic church in Cresco on the morning of June 10th, when the sacred remains of our son and brother we loved so well and placed him before the altar of God where flowers had been beautifully arranged by the hands of loving friends, Rev. Father McCartey delivered a very beautiful funeral sermon, and when the services were closed we laid the dead to rest in the beautiful Catholic cemetery.
The bereaved family have heartfelt sympathy of all the friends. The funeral was largely attended, many attending church were unable to secure teams.
He leaves a father and mother, four brothers and two sisters to mourn his loss, beside many relatives and friends. It was indeed have to see him go.
A previous one from us is gone.
A voice we loved is stilled.
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.

God in his wisdom has recalled,
The boon his love has given,
And though the body slumbers here,
The soul is safe in heaven.

CARD OF THANKS.
Thanks to the friends who so kindly assisted us during the sickness and after the death of our beloved son and brother.
FAMILY.
