Obituary.
Margaret, only daughter of Michael and Mary Creamer, was born in Columbus, Ohio, May 20, 1853. At an early age she moved with her parents to Howard county, the trip being made overland by team. Settlement was made near Howard Center. Margaret had live brothers four of whom survive her, and although she was married at the early age of sixteen, she never tired of telling about her old home life. October 24th, 1869, she was wedded to Daniel Howard, in Cresco. They were the parents of ten children, two daughters and four sous are living. A few weeks ago she was taken ill with pneumonia and although she received the best of nursing and medical assistance, she finally succumed{sic} to a complication of ailments rendered fatal by a weak heart. Death occured{sic} at 9:15 p. m. Monday, April 16, 1900. It has been truly said: “Mrs. Howard was a woman of many graces, chiefest among them was the gift of making a pleasant home, and of giving to her children the counsel and devotion that should inspire them to constant effort to improve the talents with which they had been endowed. She was not ambitious for herself, but for her loved ones her aspirations were unbounded and her faith in them was complete.” Her heart was centered in the family circle, she dreaded the time that would being “the breaking of old home ties,” she would weep bitterly over a vacant place at the table and sob and pray by a vacant bed. During her last illness she said: “Oh I can die happy. My children are all mine yet, they all love me first.”
The funeral services were conducted by Father McCarthy at the Cresco Catholic church, Thursday morning. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
