Mrs. Will. H. Winter was born Aug. 23, 1853, married, Jan. 3, 1888; came to reside near Granger in the spring of 1890, and passed to the great beyond Thursday, March 22 1900. She leaves a husband, two little girls and an infant son. The body was taken to her old home in Dakota, Minn., for burial. A funeral service was held in the M. E. church here and largely attended, as she was universally beloved for her goodness of heart and purity of soul that won the admiration, love, respect and lasting friendship of all with whom she came in contact, and her memory will long be cherished in the hearts of the people. She possessed a fine voice and her vacant chair in the choir was beautifully draped in sable and flowers, as was also the pulpit and casket. We were pleased to see so large a number of German friends come with floral tributes and tears and join in the last sad rite paid this noble woman.
No purer life was ever lived
Which bound to thee, thy fellow man,
Out of thy great love thou didst freely give,
And we’re belter for having touched thy hand.No purer spirit e’re took its flight,
Yet we bind thee still with a golden chain,
May it lead from darkness unto light.
And this loss become our own great gain.
