The child of Mr. Larey Long, sick from diphtheria, died at the home of grand-mother in Howard Center the early part of the week. No new case has developed in the vicinity, and it hoped the strict quarantine which has been maintained will prevent any new cases.

In Memory of Frankie Long
who died Jan. 15, 1900, at the home of his grandmother, Mrs. C. Long, in Howard Center, aged 9 years 8 months and 28 days.
He and his father came home on a visit from Bradley, S. D., and was taken sick the following Thursday. Frankie was a bright boy and loved by all who knew him. He will be missed by his many friends and relatives. He was laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery, Jan. 17th, at Cresco, Iowa.

Dear Frankie has gone and left us;
And his little voice is stilled.
A place is vacant in our home.
Which never can be filled.
But his little soul departed
To a home of joy and peace,
Where his mother and brother was awaiting
Their dear loved one to receive.
