ELMA -- Helen A. Zobeck, 88, Elma, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002 at the Colonial Manor, Elma of natural causes.
A Mass of Christian Burial was 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 at Immaculate Conception Church, Elma with Reverend John Hemann presiding. Theresa Burke was the organist and accompanied the Immaculate Conception Church Choir singing "Be Not Afraid" and "Amazing Grace". Kathleen Thiele was the soloist singing "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman. The lector for the service was Robert Voves. Dave and Carol Zobeck placed the pall and presented the offertory gifts, Eucharistic Ministers were LaVern McGrane and Vern Voves.
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Elma with Ed Voves, Mark Zobeck, Steven Zobeck, Jessie Zobeck, Mike Zobeck and Warren Zobeck serving as casket bearers.
Visitation was 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Conway Funeral Home, Elma, where there was a 4 p.m. Rosary and 7 p.m. Scripture Service.
Helen Anna Zobeck was born March 13, 1913 in Howard Township, the daughter of John and Anna (Kubik) Voves. She attended country school near her home. After her schooling she worked at home with her family. She was united in marriage to Victor Zobeck on Nov. 4, 1936 at Lourdes. After their marriage the couple farmed in the Maple Leaf area until 1948, when they moved to Elma where she had lived until moving to Colonial Manor in Elma in 1998. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the Rosary Society. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, fishing, cooking and being a grandma.
Survivors include one son, David (Carol) Zobeck, Elma; five grandsons; seven greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Victor, in 1980; a daughter, Judith Zobeck; five brothers, John, Frank, Ed, Joe and Charles Voves and three sisters, Agnes Coberly, Mary Berka and Abby Kostka.
