Vern Tetzner, 80
Vern Tetzner, age 80, of Mclntire, Iowa, died Sunday, February 24, 2002, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage, Iowa.
Funeral services were held at the Conway Funeral Home in Riceville on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, with the Rev. Michael Carey presiding. Burial was in Wayne Cemetery at Mclntire.
La Vern Martin Tetzner was born on May 28, 1921, near Maple Leaf in Howard County, Iowa, the son of Frank and Ida (Lamprecht) Tetzner. He attended the rural school, and being the only child in his family, he returned to the farm to help with the chores.
On May 10, 1940, he was united in marriage to Daisy H. Eastman at Lancaster, Missouri. They returned to the Mclntire area to make their home. Being raised on a farm, Vern was mechanically inclined and loved to work on anything mechanical. He opened the Tetzner Service, in which he later partnered with his grandsons.
Vern is survived by his children: Frank Sr. (Carol) of Mclntire, Barbara (Ted) Wherry of Fair Oaks, Cal., and Madeline (Tom) Deegan of Riceville; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Daisy, on January 17, 1992.
