Services held for Albert Prochaska
Funeral services for Albert Prochaska of Des Moines, formerly of Cresco, were held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 2 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Des Moines with his son-in-law, Timothy R. Kelly, and David L. Nadler, pastors-elders of Fox Creek Christ’s Church in Waukee officiating. Interment was in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines. Pallbearers were his six grandsons: Daniel Joseph Marcus, Aaron Timothy Kelly, Brian Patrick Kelly, Jonathan David Kelly, James Albert Prochaska, and Michael Joseph Kelly.
Albert, 89, died at his daughter, Irma Kelly’s home in Des Moines on January 27, 2002 of congestive heart failure.
Albert Louis Prochaska was born October 14, 1912 in Lime Springs, the son of Joseph and Anna (Svoboda) Prochaska. As a young man, Albert farmed with his dad and played baseball for the Lime Springs Tigers.
On April 28, 1947 he married Pauline Zeman at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin. They moved to their farm near Davis Corners. For a time, Albert was a seed corn/fertilizer representative.
Albert enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and his gardens, apple orchard and grapes. Due to health problems, Albert moved from the farm to Des Moines in 1998.
He is survived by three daughters: Anne Prochaska, Kathy Chance, and Irma Kelly all of Des Moines; one son: David of rural Cresco; 16 grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; two sisters: Rose Penne of Dallas, TX and Margaret Radosevich of Des Moines.
Albert was preceded in death by his wife Pauline in 1979; one son Joe in 1996; his parents; and 13 brothers and sisters: Frank, Mary, Carl, Helen, Florence, Joe, Lee, Beatrice, Howard, Grace, Mildred, Lawrence (infant), and Robert.
