Dorothy Marn, 87, of Riceville, Iowa, died Monday, August 26, 2002, at the Riceville Community Rest Home where she had made her home since July 4, 2001.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002 at Conway Funeral Home in Riceville. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery in Riceville.
Dorothy Jean Marn was born on May 17, 1915, near Riceville, Howard County, Iowa, the daughter of Oliver and Mabel (Warburton) White. The family lived at Brownville and Dorothy went to the school in Brownville, which was like a country school in the middle of town, until they moved into Riceville where Dorothy graduated from Riceville High School.
On February 16, 1946 she was united in marriage to Howard Marn in Denver, Col. They lived their entire married life in the Denver area. Dorothy moved back to Riceville after Howard’s death and she moved into her father’s house to help care for him following Beulah’s death.
Dorothy was employed as the receptionist clerk for the Rocky Mountain Motorists, which is a Colorado AAA.
Dorothy was a member of the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. She loved sports and sometimes would have the TV so loud she would not know if anyone came to the door. Dorothy had a good sense of humor and loved to have family and friends around.
She is survived by one brother, Robert White of New Hampton, Iowa; nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Howard on August 19, 1976 in Littleton, Col.; and one sister, Beulah White.
