NEW HAMPTON – Viola G. Lipp, 93, New Hampton died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002 at the New Hampton Care Center of natural causes.
Funeral Services were 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4 at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hampton with Rev. David Bergstrom and Rev. Kevin Frey officiating. Music for the service was provided by Edith Kolthoff with vocal solo of "How Great Thou Art" by Joyce Shatek. Congregational hymns were "Amazing Grace" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus". Ray Klenske was lector. Great-grandson, Jacob Lipp was cross bearer.
Interment was in New Hampton City Cemetery with John Huffman, Don Jepson, Ben Ryan, Eric Broer, C.J. Klenske, Joel Lipp and Dale Lipp as pallbearers.
Visitation was held from 3-8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3 at Hugeback Funeral Home, New Hampton where there was a 7 p.m. Video Memorial Tribute. Further visitation was an hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Viola was born in Howard Township of Howard County on Nov. 15, 1908, the only daughter of James and Myrtle (Wickham) Stevens. She received her education in Elma and Fredericksburg schools. She was united in marriage to John Henry Lipp at the Little Brown Church, Nashua on April 26, 1927. The couple farmed north of New Hampton until 1941 at which time they moved into New Hampton. Viola had worked for many years at the Maindiner Cafe and also for the Fireman's Theatre. In earlier years, Viola enjoyed making scrapbooks and crocheting. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hampton.
Survivors include one daughter, Lila (Ray) Klenske, New Hampton and one son, Don (Lu Ann) Lipp, Mason City; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, John, in 1964; two grandsons, Paul Lipp and Mark Klenske and one brother, Vern (Bud) Stevens.
