C. I. “Pete” Ferrie, age 71 of Harmony, MN passed away on Monday, February 4, 2002 following a lengthy battle with Ideopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, a terminal lung disease that randomly picks its victims.
Pete Ferrie was born the son of Irven and Margaret (Fitzgerald) Ferrie of rural Schley.
On October 28, 1950 he married Darlene Deutmeyer in Dubuque. Pete sold a successful business in Milwaukee, WI and moved his family to a dairy farm in Iowa in 1973.
He founded and Operated Harvest Farm Supplies in Cresco and Decorah from 1981 to 1989, when he sold it to his daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Kelley Martin. In 1996 he retired from dairy farming and with his sons, Dave, Paul and Pat began turning the farm, which included several wooded acres along the Upper Iowa River, into a family campground.
He is survived by his wife Darlene; his children: Debbie Ptacek of Lime Springs, Kelley Martin of rural Decorah, Paul of Cresco, Dave at home, and Pat of Cresco; Five grandchildren; three sisters: Sr. Mary Denise of Clinton, Aggie Arnburg of Earlham, and Mary Gene Hyke of Cresco; and three brothers: Joe and Cecil both of Cresco, and Jerome of Cedar Rapids.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Anicetus Friedhoff; and three brothers: Leland, Art and Ronnie.
