Services held for Wallace Ehlert
Memorial services for Wallace “Wally” Ehlert of Dubuque were held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4 at Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home. Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery in Cresco at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6.
Wallace, 67, died Saturday, August 31, 2002 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City.
Wallace E. Ehlert was born May 23, 1935 in Cresco, the son of Albert A. and Selma C. (Anderson) Ehlert.
He was co-owner of L & E Roofing in Cresco. He also worked at Steffen’s Standard Station in Dubuque and most recently for Dubuque Insulation and Siding until his retirement in 1997.
Wally loved to raise plants. He often enjoyed doing small carpentry projects.
He served in the U.S. Army in France.
He is survived by two daughters: Tina Marie Ehlert of Prairie Du Chien, WI and Inez Bernadine Ehlert of Cresco; two grandsons; and three sisters: Susan Tenney of Dyersville, Barbara Steffen of Farley, and Mary Lou Ehlert of Dubuque.
Wallace was preceded in death by one son: Shawn Wallace; and his parents.
