Lois Decker, 86, Cresco
Funeral services were held Monday Jan. 7, 2002, at the Conway Funeral Home in Cresco. Pastor Rick Kielb officiated.
Lois Decker, age 86, of Cresco, Iowa, died Friday, Jan. 4, at the Cresco Care Center where she had lived since 1999.
Lois Maxine Decker was born in Mitchell County, Iowa, near Mclntire, Iowa on January 13, 1915, the daughter of Harrey E. and Winnefred (Frost) Duryee. She attended school in Mclntire through the tenth grade.
On September 20, 1930, she was united in marriage to John Wesley Decker at the Methodist Parsonage in Cresco, Iowa. They became the parents of three children. She also raised many foster children an was very fond of her grandchildren and helped to raise Sharon’s children.
They moved into Mclntire and Lois owned and operated a grocery store for many years. After she retired from the grocery store, she made a hobby of buying houses and remodeling them for resale.
She is survived by one daughter, Sharon Patton; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Wendell Duryee and his wife Katherine of New Hampton, Iowa.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John W. in 1971; two children, Joyce Fuller an{sic} Donald D. Decker; three brothers, Kenneth, Gerard (Bunny), and Dale Duryee; and one sister, Norma Cable.
