Cyrus Barnes services held
Funeral services for Cyrus Barnes were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 30 at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, Tacoma, WA. Entombment in Calvary Cloisters. Gaffney Cassedy Allen & Buckley King Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Cyrus died Sunday, January 27, 2002 in his sleep.
Cyrus Durand Barnes was born April 7, 1919 in Schley.
He married Dorothy on June 19, 1941.
He served in the Army Air Corp from 1943-1946. After his discharge he began his career of 37 years with Western Union in California.
He was always busy building and inventing things while listening to polka music. He was an avid gardener who enjoyed planting trees.
He was the father of five children: Kay Miller of Tacoma, Larry Barnes of Spanaway, Neil Barnes of Dublin, CA, Lance Barnes of Sandy, UT, and Mary Jo Saavedra of Portland, OR; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters: Inez Springer of Cresco, Celeste Murphy of Salt Lake, UT, and Darlene Thompson of Santa Maria, CA; and two brothers: Russell Barnes of Cresco and Mark Barnes of Clinton.
