Betty Lou Fravel, 83 of Cresco, Iowa went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 9, 2018. She passed away surrounded by family at Winneshiek County Medical Center after struggling with illness.

Betty was born to Ray and Irene (Noblett) Miller in Cresco on October 22, 1934. She attended school in Cresco and worked at the dime store throughout high school. Betty married Ellis Fravel on March 25, 1954. She was a devoted wife for 55 years. They lived on a Chicago military base where she worked at a bank. She also worked as a legal secretary in Cresco. Betty and Ellis moved to the Fravel Farm south of Cresco where they raised livestock and farmed the land together. They fostered Roger Miller and were blessed with 3 children, Gary, Timothy, and Diane. Betty and Ellis were founding members of the Cresco Community Chapel where she was an organist and Sunday School teacher. Going for plane rides with Ellis, playing the organ, gardening and canning were among her favorite hobbies. She especially enjoyed growing roses, lilies, and tulips. She loved caring for her family and would comment that her dream job was to be a full-time baby holder.

Betty is survived by her son Gary Fravel, son Timothy (Kay) Fravel, daughter Diane Fravel, foster son Roger; 7 grandchildren; her great grandchildren; a sister Sandra (Lacey) Jeffreys, and a brother Robert Miller.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ellis Fravel; parents Ray and Irene Miller; sisters Janice Herold, Shirley Hass, Norma Albertson, and a brother Donald Miller.
