Cresco - Richard Lloyd, age 82, of Cresco, Iowa died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018 at Accura Healthcare in Cresco.
A graveside service will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lime Springs, Iowa on July 6, 2018 at 2 p.m., with a Celebration of Life to follow at Lidtke Park Pavillion.
Richard was born July 4, 1935 at Old Town, Lime Springs to Willis and Dorothy (Billman) Lloyd. He married Rose Hildahl in 1961 and together they raised two children, Randy and Rhonda, until they divorced in 1987.
Richard served in the Navy from 1952-1957. After the service, he worked in road construction, as a truck driver, in the foundry at White Farm Equipment, at Featherlite and farming for Scheidel Farms.
Richard loved to hunt and fish. He was well-known for hunting wild asparagus and morel mushrooms. Only a select few were privy to those hunting locations, as he was fiercely protective of those ‘secret’ spots. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his special friend, Eileen. In later years he enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and watching old westerns, especially John Wayne movies.
Richard is survived by his two children, Randy (Dara) Lloyd and Rhonda (Jeff Dralle) Lloyd, two granddaughters, Amanda (Joseph Ellis) O’Brien and Megan (Evan Stevens) O’Brien and two great-granddaughters, Leena and Lana Ellis, all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sister, Karen (Wendell) Westphal of Nora Springs, Iowa; brother, Karl (Vonnie) Lloyd of Alta Vista, Kan.; stepsisters, Judy Lloyd of Omaha, Neb., Joyce (Gene) Pisney of Lime Springs and Martha Rasmusson of Cresco; nieces and nephews; and very special friend, Eileen Melver, and her children.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Willard Lloyd; stepbrother-in-law, John Rasmusson; sister-in-law Judy Lloyd; nephew, Kyle Lloyd; and infant granddaughter, Melissa Lloyd.Source: Cresco Times Feb. 5, 2018
