Obituary.
MITCHELL—Orvllle Adelbert Mitchell was born in New Oregon township, September 5, 1854, died in Cresco, April 21, 1889, aged 44 years 6 months and 16 days.
He was twice married, the first time to Miss L. E. Gardner, November 25, 1877. To them two children were born, Hattie and Maude. Their mother died in September 1884.
Mr. Mitchell married Miss Flora Yarrington, in September 1885. This union was blessed with three children, two boys and a girl, aged respectively 10 and 7 and 2.
It is said he is the first boy born in Howard county, his parents being among the very first settlors. His home has always been right here.
He had a premonition in the fall that he was not going to live more than this winter and expressed himself so to his daughter Maude, but she kept the saying, “pondered it in her heart” hoping it would not prove true.
He has never been so solicitous of his health, often expressing himself he feared a cold and its results. A week ago last Thursday he did take the dreaded cold which resulted fatally as he predicted it would, last Friday a. m., at 7:30 o’clock he breathed his last in much suffering.
He leaves a wife and five children. His life-long acquaintances say of him, “he was a good friend, a kind neighbor and a loving husband and father.”
The funeral was from the Methodist church, Rev. Lane conducting the services, the interment was in New Oregon cemetery, about 75 teams being in the procession to the grave.
