Juletta C. Wendel, 74, Chester
'Services were held for Juletta C. Wendel, 74, of Chester, Iowa on Tuesday, September 25, at the St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Chester with interment at Chester Hill Cemetery, Chester. Rev. Ray Atwood officiated the service.
She died on Saturday, September 22, at her home in Chester of natural causes.
Juletta C. Wendell was bom on November 22, 1926 in Austin, Minnesota, the daughter of Greggory and Louise (Schmitz) Bissen. Her family lived in the Rose Creek, Minnesota area where she attended school and in May of 1944 she graduated from the Rose Creek High School.
On October 22, 1945, she was united in marriage to Bernard Wendel in St. Peters Church in Rose Creek. They made their home in Chester, Iowa. Juletta was a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Chester, where she held various offices for its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of a sewing club, the Chester Kitchen Band, the Chester Booster Club and was a board member of the Chester Community Center. She worked for the Chester Post Office for 30 years retiring in September of 1998. She didn’t have many hobbies, since work accounted for most of her time, but her family came first in her life and she loved to have her grandchildren visit.
Survivors include her husband, Bernard; a daughter, Louise and her husband Mike Bowron of Burnsville, Minnesota; three sons, Michael and his wife Karen, Jeff and his wife Pam, both of Chester, and Robert of Whittemore, Iowa; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Benno Bissen of Austin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Raymond and Bernard Bissen and two sisters: Veronica Bellrichard and Barbara Davis.
