Services held for Oliver Soltow
Funeral services for Oliver Soltow were held on Tuesday, February 27 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Cresco. Rev. Lewis Flanigan officiated. Interment was in State Line Cemetery at Harmony, MN. Pallbearers were: Soeren Soltow, David Vote, Daryl Gates, Seth Soltow, Dean Gates, and Claire Anderlik. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Oliver, 93, died Friday, February 23, 2001 at the Howard Co. Regional Health Services in Cresco.
Oliver G. Soltow was born October 9, 1907 in Winneshiek Co., the son of Adolph and Cora (Nelson) Soltow. He attended rural school and was a graduate of Cresco High School where he participated and excelled in all sports.
Oliver enjoyed watching and followed the sports events as a young man and when he was no longer able to attend he watched them on TV.
On August 28, 1929 he married Gertrude Easier. They farmed near Cresco for many years. In 1950 he was honored as an Iowa Master Swine Producer. In 1969 they retired and moved to Cresco.
Oliver was a life long and active member of the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son: Allen of Tulsa, OK; and two grandsons.
Oliver was preceded in death by his wife Gertrude in 1998; his parents; one sister: Lois Moses; and one brother: Paul.
