Goldie L. Rudlong, 71, of Ostrander, MN died Thursday, November 22, 2001 in her home of natural causes.
Goldie L. Rudlong was born January 24, 1930 in Saratoga Township, the daughter of Fay and Elfrieda (Munkel) Farnsworth. She attended country schools in Iowa and later in Minnesota. Goldie graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1948.
On May 24, 1949 she married Alvin J. Wiersma in the Methodist Church in Spring Valley, MN. They were later divorced. On September 30, 1979 she married Lester Rudlong in the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
Goldie was employed by Marigold Foods in Rochester, MN for 20 years as a bookkeeper.
She was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Church in Ostrander. She was an honorary member of the Anna Circle and was very active in her church. She volunteered her time in a local PTA, 4-H and Ostrander Lions. She also served as a volunteer with Mayo Hospice and elementary school in Spring Valley as a classroom helper.
She is survived by three sons: Micheal J. Wiersma, Roger P. Wiersma of Spring Valley, MN, and Dale A. Wiersma of Garden Grove, CA; three daughters: Michelle Freeman of Springfield, TN, Rebecca Dorenkamper of Preston, MN, and Jennifer Clint of Troy, OH; one stepson: Leslie Rudlong; and one stepdaughter: Janice Christianson of Spring Valley, MN; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two brothers: Lee of Stewartville and Fay of Rochester; and five sisters: Della Rassmuson and June Smith of Rochester, Vivian Shields of Lime Springs, Virginia Necas of Cresco and Edythe Tupper of Somerset, CO.
Goldie was preceded in death by her two husbands; an infant son; one grandson; her parents; one half sister; and three half brothers.Source: Riceville Recorder; Nov. 29, 2001 Page 10

Services were held for Goldie L. Rudlong on Tuesday, November 27, 2001 at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ostrander with Rev. Norman Bauer officiating. Burial was in Bennington Lutheran Cemetery, Bennington Township, Mower County, MN.
Goldie L. Rudlong, age 71, of Ostrander, MN died Thursday, November 22, at her home of natural causes.
She was born on January 24, 1930 in Saratoga, Twp., Howard County, Iowa. She was one of 14 children born to Fay and Elfrieda Farnsworth. She was baptized and con¬firmed in the Methodist faith. She attended county schools in Iowa and later in Minnesota. In 1948, she graduated from Spring Valley High School. On May 24, 1949, Goldie was united in marriage to Alvin James Wiersma at the Methodist Church in Spring Valley. They were later divorced. To this union six children were born - Michael, Roger, Dale, Michelle, Rebecca and Jennifer.
On September 30, 1979, she was united in marriage to Lester Rudling{sic} at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Goldie was primarily a mother and homemaker for many years. She was later employed by Marigold Foods for 20 years as a bookkeeper.
Goldie was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ostrander and was an honorary member of its Anna Circle. She volunteered her time with the PTA and 4-H club and also with Mayo Hospice and the Kingsland Elementary in Spring Valley as a classroom helper.
She is survived by her children: Michael (Rita) Wiersma and Roger (Twila) Wiersma both of Spring Valley, Michelle (Russell) Freeman of Spring Field, TN, Dale (Diane) Wiersma of Garden Grove, CA, Rebecca (Jerome) Dorenkemper of Preston, MN and Jennifer (Steve) Gunter of Spring Field, Ohio. Step children - Leslie Rudlong and Janice (Rick) Christianson of Spring Valley, MN. 19 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; two brothers, Lee Farnsworth of Stewartville and Fay Farnsworth of Rochester, five sisters - Della Rasmusson and June (Roger) Smith both of Rochester, Vivian (James) Shields of Lime Springs, IA, Virginia Necas of Cresco, and Edythe Tupper of Sommerset, CO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lester, an infant son, one grandson, one sister and five brothers.
