Services held for Merlin Miller, 70
Funeral services for Merlin Miller of Clear Lake were held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 21 at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Riceville. The Rev. Alf Merseth officiated. Interment was in St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery south of Riceville. Pallbearers were employees and friends from Opportunity Village: Chris Cash, Mike Hall, Don Nichols, Wayne Skyrme, John Cobb, John Olson, Johnny Schmidt, and Gordon Peterson. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Merlin, 70, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
Merlin Raymond Miller was born in Iowa on April 10, 1931, was adopted by Walter and Lizzy Miller, and was baptized in his faith on May 3, 1931 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Maple Leaf. Merlin lived with his parents Walter and Anna Miller on the farm, until they moved into Riceville and he lived at home until Walter died Januatry 1977. Merlin moved into Opportunity Village in February 1977 and lived there for 24 years.
Merlin enjoyed country music, flowers and reminiscing about his early years.
Merlin was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister: Dorothy in 1924.
