ALTA VISTA - Marjorie I. Meirick, 66, Alta Vista, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001 at her home of natural causes.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Alta Vista with Rev. John Barnes presiding. Barb Boyle will be the organist and will accompany the combined choirs of St. Bernard Church and Immaculate Conception Church of Elma. Marjorie's husband and children will place the pall and her grandchildren will be gift bearers. Mass servers will be Craig and Pete Meirick and Nick and Nathan Boyle. Eucharistic ministers will be Rick Holthaus and Tom Recker. Lectors will be Cy Freidhof and John Loes.
Burial will be Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Alta Vista with nephews Tim, Roger and Leon Meirick, Tom Buckley and Tom and Pat Boyle as pallbearers.
Visitation was after 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22 at Conway Funeral Home, Elma, with a 4:30 p:m. Rosary and 7:30 p.m. Scripture Service and also an hour prior to services at the church.
Marjorie was born April 19, 1935 in Elma, the daughter of Charles and Clara (Knippling) Boyle. She attended rural
schools and was a graduate of Immaculate Conception Academy in Elma. She married Dale E. Meirick Sept. 5, 1953 at Immaculate Conception Church in Elma. They lived and farmed their entire married life on the Meirick family farm west of Alta Vista. Marjorie had also been employed for ten years at Colonial Manor, Elma. he was a member of St. Bernard Church, the Rosary Society and also the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking gardening and fishing.
Survivors include her husband, Dale; six daughters, Dorothy (Leonard) Kobliska, Raymond, Donna (Tom) Bodensteiner, Clear Lake, Ruth (Pat) Riha, Cresco, Linda (Mike) Wedemeir, Charles City, Mary (Randy) Roethler, Elma, Paula (Steve) Breitbach, New Hampton; three sons, Joseph (Pat) Meirick, Alta Vista, Dennis (Joan) Meirick, Elma, Herb (Amy) Meirick, Alta Vista; 21 granchildren; five great-grandchildren two sisters: Norma Buckley, Elma, Judy Hilsman, Waterloo; three brothers, Charles Boyle and John Boyle, Elma and Jim Boyle, Alta Vista.
Preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters, Eleanor Hall, Bernice Heying and Madonna Mueterthies and a brother, Patrick Boyle.
