CEDAR RAPIDS - Gertrude M. McCourty, 93, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001 at Living Center East, Cedar Rapids, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12 at Sacred Heart Convent Chapel, Cedar Rapids by the Rev. David Ambrosy.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Elma.
Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:15 a.m. at the Chapel.
Gertrude was born April 1, 1907 in Howard County, the daughter of Richard and Elsie (Ricnardson) Keefe. She was in the first class to graduate from Mt. Mercy College, Cedar Rapids. She married Thomas J. McGourty on May 23, 1933 in Riceville. She was a teacher at All Saints Catholic Church and also worked at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a son, James, Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Mary Clarice Sullivan, Biloxi, MS; a sister, Sister Mary Clarice Keefe of the Sacred Heart Convent, Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; three daughters, Elsie, Marian and Regina; two brothers and two sisters.

Transcriber's Note: The name is spelled two different ways in obituary; however, the spelling on the gravestone is McGourty.
