Rose Hrdlicka services held
Funeral services for Rose Hrdlicka were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31 at the Holy Trinity Church with interment in the Holy Trinity Cemetery, both in Protivin. Rev. John Moser officiated. Honorary pall bearers were: Kevin Pecinovsky, Brett Hamlett, Derek Sobolik, Nathan Hamlett, Larry Kostohryz, Scott Kostohryz, Dustin Sobolik, Nick Hamlett, and Chad Kostohryz. Pall bearers were: Dennis Sobolik, Kevin Sobolik, Randy Sobolik, Jeff Hrdlicka, Jack Hrdlicka, and Jerry Hrdlicka. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Rose, 102, died Friday, July 27, 2001 at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco.
Rose Hrdlicka was born April 11, 1899 on a farm near Protivin, Howard County, the daughter of Albert and mary (Martinek) Milota. She attended the rural school and went home to help care for the parental household.
On September 20, 1921 she married Frank Hrdlicka at the Holy Trinity church in Protivin. After their marriage, they lived on a farm in Howard County until about 1931 when they moved into Cresco to make their home. On August 11, 1956, Frank died and Rose continued living in Cresco until her health failed and she entered the nursing home at the age of 99.
Rose was a life long member of the Holy Trinity Church in Protivin.
She liked to garden, raise flowers, cook, loved to eat chicken and enjoyed animals.
She is survived by one son:: Leonard of Cresco; one daughter:! Wilma Sobolik of Cresco; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband Frank; two daughters: Mary Ann Hrdlicka in infancy and Adela Kostohryz; her parents; and three brothers: James, Albert, and Louis.
